COVER STORY
For the past eight years, Amy Chanderpaul has been the typical cricket wife, cheering her husband, former West Indies captain Shivnarine Chanderpaul, on when he is doing well, or offering words of comfort when he and the team are not in the best of form on the field.
She was there in the stands at Bourda back in March 2005, rooting for him as usual, when he scored his highest Test run of 202 not-out in his debut game as captain during South Africa’s tour of the West Indies.
A 24-year-old beauty, Amy has, for the most part, been somewhat of an enigma to the Guyanese public. In this Q&A session, GEM tries to unravel the mystery as we talk to her about family life, cricket, college and more.
GEM: Where did you grow up?
AC: I grew up in Guyana. I lived in Atlantic Gardens for 18 years before migrating to the US.
